5 Ways to Stay Active in LA

As summer approaches, it is important for Angelenos to stay active and enjoy the many activities that LA has to offer.

Workout at the Beach

Beach workouts are an amazing way to stay active while also enjoying one of LA’s truly greatest attractions. The sun and sand are great additions to one’s workout, and the vast open space allows you to maintain a safe distance from others. An added bonus is being able to jump in the ocean for a swim or cool down after a tough workout.

Hiking Trails Throughout the LA Region

Los Angeles has a great selection of hiking trails to choose from. Whether you want to hike in Malibu over the beach or in Griffith Park looking over downtown LA, hiking provides great exercise. You can walk or run the trails alone or with friends and experience beautiful scenery throughout the LA region.

Yoga at the Park

Yoga provides people with the opportunity to stay active without putting too much physical strain on their bodies. Outdoor yoga in particular can be peaceful and very beneficial to individuals that are stuck inside at their desks for long periods of time. Yoga is not only exercise for the body but also exercise for the mind. There are a lot of spots on UCLA’s campus that provide peaceful locations for fifteen-minute to one-hour long yoga sessions.

Bike Along the Beach

Santa Monica, Malibu, and Venice Beach offer great places for long bike rides along the beach. If you don’t own a bike, you can rent one for a low price on an hourly basis. Biking can be an excellent cardiovascular exercise that doesn’t exert your body like running does.

Golf at One of LA’s Various Courses

Golf is unique in that it is not very restricted during the pandemic and is a great way to get outdoors and appreciate the scenery of some of LA’s beautiful golf courses. No skill is required to have fun being out on the course with some of your friends. If you want to work on your golf swing, there are numerous driving ranges that can be utilized for great exercise as well. Golf is also an effective means to enjoy the outdoors for hours at a time.
