5 comfort foods to make in your dorm room

To my fellow Bruins living on the Hill: have you ever felt hungry in the middle of the night when all restaurants are closed? Here are five easy recipes that you can make in the comfort of your dorm room!

1) Fruity Yogurt Popsicles

Satisfy your ice cream craving with this creamy and healthy popsicle!

Total time: 6 hours

Ingredients (3 servings)

1 cup full-fat yogurt
1 cup chopped fruit of your choice

1 tablespoon honey

Steps

— Chop your choice of fruit into small pieces.
— Mix the fruit pieces with yogurt and honey.
— Scoop the mixture into a popsicle mold.
— Freeze for 2 hours, then insert a wooden popsicle stick in the center of each mold.
— Freeze for at least extra 4 hours until it hardens.
— Remove the popsicle from the mold and enjoy!

2) Tortilla Pizza

Easy and tasty pizza without the long wait at the Study!

Total time: 3 mins

Ingredients (1 serving)

1 flour tortilla
3 tablespoons marinara sauce
1/2 cup shredded cheese
Toppings of your choice

Steps

— Place the tortilla on a plate.
— Spread marinara sauce evenly on the tortilla.
— Add cheese and toppings of your choice.
— Microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes until cheese is melted, and your meal is served!

3) Drinkable S’mores

Hot chocolate that keeps you warm and satisfied with a twist of S’mores!

Total time: 3 mins

Ingredients (1 serving)

3 teaspoons cocoa powder
1 cup milk of your choice
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon mini marshmallows
1 piece graham crackers

Steps

— Pour milk into a mug and microwave it for 1 1/2 minutes.
— Add cocoa powder and sugar to the heated milk.
— Stir thoroughly until it is well-mixed.
— Add marshmallows to the drink, and microwave it for 30 seconds.
— Crumble the graham crackers, and sprinkle them on top of the melted marshmallows for your completed product!

4) Mug Mac and Cheese

An American classic that never goes wrong in the middle of the night!

Total time: 3 mins

Ingredients (1 serving)

1/2 cup uncooked macaroni
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons milk
1/4 cup shredded cheese

Steps

— Put the uncooked macaroni and water into a mug.
— Microwave the mug for 2 minutes; add an extra minute if the water is not fully absorbed.
— Add milk and cheese to the macaroni, and stir thoroughly.
— Microwave for a final 30 seconds, and your mac and cheese is served!

5) Mug Bread Pudding

There is no better way to finish your leftover bread!

Total time: 9 mins

Ingredients (1 serving)

1 slice of bread
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup milk

Steps

— Crack and beat your egg in a bowl.
— Add milk and sugar to the egg and stir thoroughly.
— Cut the bread into small cubes.
— Put the bread cubes in a mug, and pour the egg mixture over the cubes.
— Mix the cubes and the egg mixture evenly.
— Microwave for 2 minutes; add an extra 30 seconds if the egg mixture looks runny.
— Cool for 5 minutes, and your mug bread pudding is ready!
