A look into the life of a Celsius ambassador

The comically large energy drink that takes over the backseat of her car is nothing new to Emily Anaya Martinez, a third-year student double majoring in sociology and political science. As a Celsius brand ambassador, she must always be ready for the next event. Anaya Martinez began her Celsius journey last year, during her second year of college, when her sorority Alpha Chi Omega was sent some cases along with an enticing letter encouraging students to apply to potentially become ambassadors. She was a fan of the bubbly energy drink in high school during her soccer seasons and noticed how popular the drink was on campus.

“It seemed like the perfect opportunity to pursue something I enjoyed and share it with the people around me,” said Anaya Martinez.

Initially, she assumed that her role would be primarily social-media-driven, but she quickly realized how hands-on the position was — an aspect that she loves. One of Anaya Martinez’s favorite aspects of being an ambassador is brand visibility events on campus. As a quintessential social butterfly, she loves interacting with and meeting people, both on campus and beyond, through hosting events during move-in and making promotional deliveries to different organizations.

Though she only started her Celsius ambassador program one year ago, Anaya Martinez has already made strides as the campus lead for schools on the West Coast. As campus lead, she oversees not only what happens at UCLA but for other universities as well, allowing her to form connections with a broader range of students.

The Celsius program initially started with only 17 student ambassadors but has grown to 170 since its inception in 2022, a number that Anaya Martinez is proud of. The company has a conference each year in Florida, where the ambassadors come together to share their ideas and experiences. This year, she shared how she has loved working with the athletic programs, especially the women’s lacrosse team. Additionally, she has made it a goal to increase outreach to both on-campus and off-campus students by putting door hangers in both dorms and apartments.

Through this conference and meeting more of the company, she has enjoyed the opportunities to network and grow professionally. “We feel like we actually make a big difference in the company, which isn’t always possible for students,” said Anaya Martinez.

Through her role as a Celsius ambassador, full-time student and leader in her sorority, Anaya Martinez has also learned the importance of balance. She finds weekly meetings with her supervisor and creating a plan incredibly helpful. She also emphasizes that her supervisor and other staff firmly believe that school should come first, providing students with help and resources. It also helps that for Anaya Martinez, this job feels more like a hobby because she loves it so much.

For someone interested in pursuing an ambassador position, Anaya Martinez firmly believes it helps to stay true to yourself and embrace your most outgoing self. It also helps to be friendly and open, which helps with establishing partnerships and putting on events.

“Just put yourself out there and don’t be afraid to try new things. It will open up more opportunities for you,” said Anaya Martinez.

As someone extremely familiar with the numerous flavors and lines of the carbonated energy drink, Anaya Martinez recommends any Celsius guava lines, such as Strawberry Guava, Tropical Vibe, and Oasis Vibe. So be sure to try one of those flavors the next time you need a finals week pick-me-up or see Anaya Martinez handing them out at one of her many campus events!
