UCLA set the tone early with efficient attacks and strong defensive plays, keeping Vanguard on the defensive. The Lions put up a stronger fight in the second set, but the Bruins held their ground to secure the sweep.
The Bruins came out firing during their fist set, using quick attacks and spectacular serves to put immediate pressure on Vanguard. UCLA’s middle blockers controlled the net, shutting down the Lions’ attempts to gain momentum. Despite some competitive rallies, UCLA closed out the set comfortably at 25-18.
Vanguard showed impressive resilience in the second set, keeping the score tight and even briefly taking the lead. At 19-19, UCLA called a timeout to regroup. After the break, the Bruins capitalized on key defensive stops and clutch plays to regain control. The set remained close, but UCLA edged out the Lions 25-22.
The final set saw the Bruins dominate from the start, jumping to an early 7-4 lead. UCLA’s serving pressure disrupted Vanguard’s reception, allowing the Bruins to extend their lead to 20-16. UCLA never let up and closed out the match with another 25-18 win, completing the sweep.
With this victory, UCLA improves to 13-3 on the season. The Bruins will face Vanguard again in a rematch this Saturday as they look to continue their winning streak.
