UCLA Bruins defeat the Oregon Ducks in a blowout game of 52-78

After defeating USC on Monday, the Bruins dominated the Ducks with a score of 52-78.

In the early minutes of the first half, #34 Tyler Bilodeau scored the first three points after UCLA won the ball toss. #3 Eric Dailey Jr. led the first half with 11 points and made three back-to-back shots early in the first half. #15, sophomore Aday Mara scored his first points of the night with a dunk. #0 Kobe Johnson scored his first points halfway through the first half. Bilodeau made his first block of the night against Oregon’s Nate Bittle.

UCLA had their largest run in the first half, 9-0 in five minutes.To close off the first half, Mara blocked Oregon, allowing Johnson to steal the ball and score the last few points of the first half. The Bruins completely led the first half and went into halftime with a score of 26-40, also their largest lead of the half.

To start the second half of the game, #2 Dylan Andrews scored his first two points in the early seconds of the second half. #55 Skyy Clark seemed to struggle as he only made one of his last four field goals. He did, however, lead the Bruins in assists with five assists.

Oregon seemed to come back stronger in the second half as they started to shorten the lead that the Bruins had held up to this point. Meanwhile, the Bruins were struggling with a scoring drought.

Mara blocked Oregon’s attempted shot and went for a dunk, leaving the Bruin fans going crazy at Pauley Pavilion. Dailey Jr. came into the second half scoring a three-pointer, his first points of the second half. About halfway through the second half, Mara was given two free throws which he missed and later was given his first personal foul.

Andrew seemed to take over the second half as he was leading in points. Dailey Jr. got his first free throws of the night and scored both. Mara was given another two free throws and only made one.

After only scoring two points the entire night, Clark made his first three-pointer of the night in the last minutes. Right after, Dailey Jr with another three-pointer to stretch his lead in points for the night. After the assist from Mara, Dailey Jr scored a dunk that had the Bruins standing on their feet for the sophomore transfer from Oklahoma State University.

In the last minute of the game, #12 Sebastian Mack got his first steal. Freshman #1 Trent Perry got his first assist to #24 William Kyle III who then got a dunk. To end the game, Dailey Jr led the Bruins with 21 points. After maintaining the lead the entire game, UCLA defeated Oregon 52-78.

Despite the win, the UCLA head coach still admitted that this was not the Bruins’ best game. And after the game when asked how it felt to get the shots in, Dailey Jr. said “Crowds go loud, shots go in.”
