Escape the city lights and take your date on a celestial journey at the Griffith Observatory. This iconic landmark offers awe-inspiring views of the night sky, making it a perfect spot for stargazing. The observatory regularly hosts star parties where you can learn about the constellations, planets and other astronomical wonders. Sharing this enchanting experience under the stars is sure to deepen your connection.

Outdoor movie nights

Experience the nostalgia of a drive-in movie theater with a modern twist. Throughout the summer, various LA locations host outdoor movie screenings in parks and on rooftops. Some of my personal favorites are the rooftop showings at E.P & L.P. Rooftop & Restaurant and Boat Cinema at Castaic Lake, though these experiences are on the pricier side. If you’re looking to save some money, cuddle up with your loved one and enjoy a classic film under the stars at La Habra Movies in the Park, Agoura Hills Movies in the Park, CineMalibu and more!

Combine adventure and romance by renting a double kayak, stand-up paddleboards or a sailboat from UCLA’s Marina Aquatic Center in Marina del Rey. The best part is that Bruins can rent for free! If you’re looking for something more exciting than dinner, head down to the Marina for your perfect, adventure-filled date!

Bring your significant other for a fun and festive night out in Venice Beach on the first Friday of every month. Starting at 5 p.m., dozens of food trucks line Abbot Kinney Boulevard, offering a variety of different cuisines from South American pupusas and arepas, birria tacos, burritos and everything in between. This experience allows you to try new foods and share a dish… or two… or three.

Beach picnic in Santa Monica

Nothing says summer romance like a beach picnic. Pack a blanket, some delicious snacks and a bottle of bubbly for a trip to Santa Monica Beach. With its stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, this is the perfect spot to unwind, bask in the sun and enjoy a delightful picnic with your partner. Bay Cities Italian Deli & Bakery makes a great spot to pick up a delicious assortment of cheese and meats. Don’t forget to catch the breathtaking sunset for an extra touch of magic. If you’re not ready for the night to end after the picnic, head down to the Santa Monica Pier to indulge in a romantic carnival ride.
