On Friday, Nov. 3, British pop icon Declan McKenna took the stage at The Novo, one of Los Angeles’ most famous indoor venues for rising artists. As the closing show of his North American “The Big Return” Tour, McKenna delivered a night to remember for all in attendance. Having originally made his debut into the mainstream music industry after winning Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition in 2015, McKenna has come to establish himself as a prominent artist in the alternative and indie-pop spaces. Having to cut his tour one night early, Mckenna did an amazing job at making sure the finale in Los Angeles represented the entirety of his tour. With undeniable talent and a magnetic personality shared between songs, McKenna certainly brought his all.
Balancing his vocals with his guitar solos, Mckenna knew exactly how to navigate his own pieces, and he did so with incredible skill. McKenna’s performance had the crowd cheering in between every song, eagerly awaiting whatever was next.
Serenading the crowd with his song “Beautiful Faces," McKenna had a crowd of nearly 2,400 singing along to every word.
Though known for his genre of pop music, McKenna certainly tapped into his inner rockstar as he danced across the stage, shredding along to his guitar. With an incredible lighting display behind him, the energy he created was nothing short of electric.
Mckenna performed in a gold-toned suit with his iconic matching gold-accented guitar. This visual look was paired with a beautiful flower-adorned mic stand.
