Authors note: While everyone can relate to a love story, they can often be rather individual and isolating. This isn’t a problem with the genre, however, just a function of the archetype. Simply put, an author can only write love as they see and experience it because love means and shows itself in different ways to different people – hence the idea behind this piece. I wanted to construct a love story without an author – without one abject point of view from which love is depicted/felt/realized. Even though I did compile these songs in the hopes of creating some semblance of a narrative through line, the variety of artists should hopefully showcase the different forms which love can take.
If you, the listener, find meaning in just one of these songs, great. If you think they are all terrible and whiney and delusional, then you probably just see love differently. However, if you do find a narrative of your own amongst these assorted tracks, then know you are not alone in this vast world of broken hearts and warm embraces. Whatever your experience, I thank you for listening and hope you enjoy …
