The No. 7 UCLA softball team showed its trademark toughness and late-game poise on Sunday evening, April 27, securing a 4-3 extra-innings victory over Michigan at Carol Hutchins Stadium. With the game tied in the top of the eighth, redshirt sophomore standout Alexis Ramirez stepped up under pressure, delivering a clutch RBI single that gave the Bruins the lead. UCLA’s defense held firm in the bottom half of the inning to seal the win and clinch the series.

This victory followed an impressive performance the day before when UCLA defeated Michigan 5-3 in the series opener on April 26. Powered by timely hitting and solid pitching, the Bruins showcased their depth and ability to execute in crucial moments throughout the weekend. Sunday’s game was particularly intense, with both teams exchanging leads and making key defensive plays to keep the outcome in doubt until Ramirez’s go-ahead hit.

With the series win, UCLA strengthens its postseason résumé, further solidifying its position among the nation’s top teams. The Bruins’ ability to perform in high-pressure situations, especially on the road, reflects the experience and resilience within the squad. As the regular season winds down, UCLA looks poised to carry this momentum into the upcoming conference and NCAA tournament play. It is fueled by strong team chemistry, dynamic offense and a pitching staff that consistently delivers when it matters most.
