You may not be able to spice up your love life this Valentine’s Day. But you can at least add a jolt of novelty to your playlist. The music industry is doing its part with a series of new releases in 2025 to help set the mood – or maybe give you a soundtrack as you sob in your pillow. New offerings include the highly anticipated deluxe edition of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet,” which is fresh off a Grammy’s win for Best Pop Vocal album. We can’t help you get a date or a table in a nice restaurant but here are five artists dropping music this Friday that will at least freshen up the soundtrack of your life.
1. Sabrina Carpenter – Short n’ Sweet Deluxe
This really is the year of Sabrina Carpenter. Just a week ago, the star performed her hit songs “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” at the 2025 Grammy Awards. She didn’t walk home empty-handed either, with “Espresso” winning Best Pop Vocal Performance in addition to her album being honored. Fresh off these wins and a Marilyn Monroe-inspired “Vogue” cover, Carpenter has momentum on her side as she releases five new tracks to complement an already successful album, which debuted at number one in the U.S. and spent three weeks at the top spot after its release in 2024. These new additions feature a version of “Please, Please, Please,” featuring music legend Dolly Parton, and “Busy Woman,” which the singer has already performed on her global arena tour. Carpenter releasing new music this Valentine’s day is only fitting, as she has definitely been a busy woman.
2. The Lumineers – Automatic
The Lumineers – an alternative folk group famous for hits like “Ho Hey” and “Ophelia” – will be releasing their fifth studio album “Automatic.” The group first released an EP featuring three songs from the new album: “You’re All I Got,” “So Long,” and “Same old Song.” These tracks stay true to the folksy, stripped back-sound they’ve been known for, even though they’ve previously branched out into more experimental styles. Along with the new music, the band announced the dates for the North American leg of their global 2025 tour. The release of this album marks 20 years of collaboration between bandmates Jeremiah Fraites and Wesley Shultz, making this album a product of time, commitment, and love. So this Valentine’s day, check out “Automatic,” and celebrate your long-lasting friendships.
3. Alessia Cara – Love & Hyperbole
Alessia Cara will be releasing her fourth studio album, “Love & Hyperbole,” this Friday. The 28-year old Canadian singer-songwriter is most famous for her 2015 hit, “Scars to Your Beautiful,” on her debut album. Now, Cara has had time and experience to develop her sound and style. She recently hosted an event with partners Lenovo and Intel that featured a live performance to drum up excitement for the release. “There’s a little something for every person, in any situation, on this album, whether you’re single and sad, single and happy, in love and sad, or in love and happy,” Cara has said of the album. No matter what your relationship status is this Valentine’s day, add some songs from “Love & Hyperbole” to your playlist and let Cara set the mood.
4. Addison Rae – High Fashion
Going out this Friday? Check out Addison Rae’s upcoming single “High Fashion.” This rising artist began her career on TikTok as a social media influencer, but has been developing a musical portfolio since her debut 2021 release “Obsessed.” It was hard to escape “Diet Pepsi” on the internet, which became Rae’ first song to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. She followed it with “Aquamarine,” a dreamy, dance hit which doubled the debut streams of “Diet Pepsi.” Along with a video teaser, Rae reminded fans on Instagram to listen to “High Fashion,” which is sure to be a fun addition to your Valentine’s day soundtrack.
5. Saint Motel – Saint Motel & the Symphony in the Sky
Saint Motel, an indie pop band from here in Los Angeles, announced the release of their new album “Saint Motel & the Symphony in the Sky” this Friday, as well as the dates for a North American headlining tour. It will be a new era for the group, as the last full album they released was “The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack,” in 2021. In an Instagram post, the band wrote, “This Valentine’s day, fall in love like never before…with the Symphony in the Sky.” If you haven’t been counting down the hours to Valentine’s day, this new release will hopefully add some suspense, excitement, and maybe even a little romance to your day.
