Lauren Mayberry commanded the Verizon Stage on Day 2 of BottleRock Napa Valley 2025, bringing her solo tour to a triumphant close in support of her debut album, “Vivacious Creature.” Mayberry set the scene with her bold presence as the opening notes of “Something in the Air” pulsed through the speakers. Mayberry’s vocals served the crowd duality with a soft yet gritty sound above her swirling dance moves, instantly captivating everyone with both power and poise. Her effortless connection with the audience was clear from the first refrain: she wasn’t just performing songs, she was sharing pieces of herself.
The energy only grew as she segued into “Change Shapes,” layering funky bass lines over tight drum machines, her band locking in as one. Mayberry’s stage presence was nothing but electric. She let the music move through her, serving up irresistible grooves and an effortlessly cool attitude.
About halfway through the set, Mayberry paused to send love to the Bay Area, reflecting on the personal journey that shaped “Vivacious Creature” and explaining how each song chronicles her moments of self-discovery. She greeted longtime fans who’d supported her through ten years with CHVRCHES, expressing gratitude for their unwavering dedication, and welcomed newcomers to this new chapter of her artistic journey.
She then stripped things back for a chilling acoustic performance of “Are You Awake,” her voice layered over gentle guitar strums. Seated on the stage and exuding intimacy, she ended her set as the audience gazed in rapt attention. In closing out both her BottleRock appearance and the Vivacious Creature Tour, Mayberry proved to be a multifaceted artist. One moment filling a festival stage with bombastic pop anthems, the next stripping back to leave hearts racing with just a voice and a guitar. Mayberry’s solo venture had not only honored her roots in CHVRCHES but had also carved out an entirely new, dazzling identity of its own.
