Gallery: R&B, country and pop take the spotlight, bringing the final night of Outside Lands 2024 to a close

Like the previous two days, those attending Outside Lands were met with an overcast sky and a chilly breeze. Most people came prepared with their jackets and blankets. One particular aspect of the majority of people’s outfits that was unique to day three was the amount of pink in the crowds. Pink cowboy hats and all-pink outfits dotted the festival grounds at every stage, especially at Lands End where Chappell Roan would later perform. Her fans began lining up as early as 11:30 a.m., a little after the festival officially let attendees in for day three of fun and vibes.

As the day went on, almost every artist thanked the audience with the same notion, “Thank you for still coming out even with this cold weather.” It seemed as if nothing was going to stop festival goers from seeing their favorite artists and enjoying one final day of vibing. Many people were seen smoking joints, a celebrated act of the festival and one that took some attendees’ minds off of the cold.

Even with mist rolling in, pop sensation Chappell Roan amazed fans with her set of 11 songs. She got the crowd dancing along to “HOT TO GO!” and had the audience sing along with her for other hits like “My Kink is Karma.” For those who stuck around at the Lands Ends stage after her performance, they were treated to a special country set by rapper turned country artist Post Malone. He sang covers of his favorite country songs alongside a full band playing instruments like the fiddle and acoustic guitars, synonymous to country music.

Ending off the night at Twin Peaks, recent winner of Best New Artist at the 66th Grammy Awards Victoria Monét and two time Grammy winner and DJ Kaytranada took to the stage. With her hit “Smoke,” Victoria Monét encouraged all of those in the crowd who had a blunt to “light up for me,” which are lyrics of the song. As weed was one of the many things celebrated at Outside Lands, many in the crowd were ecstatic and did as requested by the artist. About an hour later, Kaytranada brought electronic dance music which subtle R&B influences to the mix. Fans were treated with amazing visuals and were able to party because as the DJ said “ain’t no party like a Kaytra party!”
