LA is essentially the land of brunch. What is brunch? Brunch is late morning meal that basic girls eat all day long — not actually restricted to the time frame between morning and noon. All jokes aside though, LA hold beautifully aesthetic brunch places that not only have a fantastic array of avocado toasts, but also a great background for you to take those Instagram worthy pics. Read on to find out my introductions and reviews on the hottest brunch places in LA!
- Honey Hi
1620 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
This brunch place is super healthy, located on Sunset boulevard, near Echo Park. The area outside may seem a bit sketchy, but once you find the cute little cafe styled restaurant, you are given a wide range of healthy brunch foods. Honey Hi advocates for sustainable and healthy ingredients. I got the pancakes and an avocado, eggs, bacon bowl. Both looked at tasted super delicious. The pancakes had an interesting healthy, grainy taste, but it was super soft and dissolves in your mouth. The two plates came down to $30+, bridging on the slightly pricier end.
2. Lady M Cake Boutique
8718 W 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90048
The famous Lady M is located near Rodeo Dr, where all the expensive brands are. This shop was much smaller than I expected, so there might be a wait when you get there. However, the wait is totally worth it because these iconic cakes are just super delicious! I ordered the Matcha Mille Crêpes, and the Strawberry Mille Feuille. Both of them melt into your tongue. You order by slices and each slice costs approximately $8-$12. Though the Signature Matcha is a must, the Strawberry Mille Feuille is literally an amalgamation of flavors and textures. It closes rather early on 7pm everyday though!
3. Flower Child
1332 2nd St, Santa Monica, CA 90401
This one’s located right near 3rd Street Promenade, which makes it perfect to go for a shopping + brunch trip. Flower Child is an extremely aesthetic brunch place. It has two floors and each table is adorned with fresh flowers. This place is great for taking photos. They’ve also got really flavorful avocado toasts, steak bowls, corn and quinoa salads and more. It is a perfect healthy cafe that offers a lot of different vegan options too! Most of the menu is mix and match, so you can choose what proteins you would like with certain bowls, soups, salads…etc.
4. The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker Cafe
8653 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069
This brunch place — of which I will not repeat the name because its too long — has many restaurants around LA. My experience with the restaurant was unfortunately that there was a super long wait. We waited for around 40 minutes for our food. The carbonara spaghetti did not taste extremely impressive, and the pasta was a bit undercooked. However, the Eggs Benedict was not bad. They were very generous with the amount of avocados, so that’s a plus! The interior design is very open, so it allows a lot of light for aesthetic pictures of people and food.
5. Zinc Cafe
580 Mateo St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Zinc Cafe is also a brunch mini-chain, but the closest one to UCLA would be at the Arts District (which is not that close actually). Asides from the awesome avocado toast, their huge windows and heartwarming woody interior decorations were a nice touch. The space is quite large, and there is also a mini store at the right side of the cafe. There is an outdoor and indoor section, which is great for pictures under fantastic lighting.
I’ve got more on plate! 😉 Keep checking back into Bruinlife to make sure you get Part 2 for this Bruin Brunches series!
