A sustainable, stylish summer

We’ve come full circle to a time when most fashion has been established and worn. With the trends of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s still relevant today, it’s apparent that some pieces are here to stay. What should also stay is an effort to dress up for yourself every day. Here lies advice for mastering a fashion trend that’s particularly relevant today: expressing yourself.

It can make sense to resort to hoodies and sweats when you’re tired from the early morning class, late nights studying and all-nighters for that assignment you put off till the last minute. However, wearing what makes you happy shows that you put yourself first. The following stores house items that can give you the confidence you deserve and help you showcase the fashion that fits your personality best.

1. Marshalls & T.J. Maxx

Marshalls location: 11270 Olympic Blvd., West Los Angeles, CA 90025

T.J. Maxx location: 8487 W. Third St., Los Angeles, CA 90048

These two department stores are fantastic places to shop on a budget, offering brand-name clothes and overflow from your favorite retail stores. The stores receive brand-new products every day and sell them for discounted prices. With a diverse range of clothing brands, you’re sure to find something that suits your liking while staying within that college budget.

2. Goodwill

Location: 11726 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90025

At Goodwill, not only will you develop a collection of items unique to your personality, but you will do so in the form of a treasure hunt — you never know what you might find. Sometimes, you get to see items with the original tags still on or see something that you wanted to buy a previous time but decided not to. Goodwill is always your friend!

3. American Cancer Society Discovery Shop

Location: 2460 Overland Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90064

The Discovery Shops are exactly what they sound like: places to discover. Like Goodwill, they sell items that have been donated, but here, most of those items are sorted into high-quality categories. These shops are smaller and more eclectic but still carry unique fashion such as the fabulous J. Crew and Free People dresses! Don’t skip this stop!
