A fruity, earthy and aesthetic drink that’s as good as it looks.
I’ve been obsessed with this drink lately. It’s simple, yet looks fancy and tastes even better. Think: Sweet strawberry meets earthy matcha, layered beautifully in a cup. It’s creamy, refreshing and just a little bit grassy — in the best way. Once you try it, you’ll want to make it again and again.
Ingredients:
- 3 fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of strawberry milk, or regular milk with strawberry Nesquik
- 1 teaspoon of matcha powder, ceremonial grade works best
- 3 tablespoons of hot water, not boiling!
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
1. Strawberry base: Start by tossing your chopped strawberries and sugar into a glass. Use a fork to mash it up into a sweet little purée — it should look kind of like jam.
2. Matcha time: In a small bowl, sift your matcha powder. Add the hot water and whisk it like you mean it! You want it nice and smooth, with a bit of froth on top. I use a bamboo whisk, but a milk frother works too.
3. Assemble: Add some ice right on top of the strawberry mix. Then pour in your strawberry milk—it’ll turn this pretty pink color. Finally, slowly pour the matcha over the top to get those gorgeous layers.
4. Enjoy: You can stir it up or sip it as is. Either way, it’s refreshing, sweet and slightly earthy — in the best way.

Why matcha and strawberries are a perfect pair:
Matcha isn’t just pretty — it’s loaded with antioxidants and offers a calm caffeine lift without the coffee crash. Strawberries bring natural sweetness and a hit of vitamin C. Together, they strike a perfect balance between indulgent and fresh.
Variations to try
- Swap in oat or almond milk to make it dairy-free.
- Add a splash of vanilla syrup for extra sweetness.
- Use frozen strawberries for a thicker, smoothie-like texture.
