There is always something happening around campus, and a break between classes can be the perfect time to explore these events — or to rot. Whether you have 30 minutes or two hours, there’s more to do than scroll on your phone.

If you need to be productive, head to one of our many libraries (my favorite is Powell Library) or Kerckhoff Coffee House to catch up on notes, study, grab a coffee and lock in on your work. For those who need fuel, grab a bite at one of the ASUCLA locations (such as Lu Valle Commons, Northern Lights, Court of Sciences, Ackerman Union or even the hill).
If it’s sunny out, spend a few minutes at the Tongva Steps. It’s a UCLA classic: stretch out on the grass, chat with friends or people-watch as you study.

Want to move your body? The John Wooden Center is located near the heart of campus and is a great place to visit to fit in a quick workout during your busy day. Or if you’re running low on energy, go back to your dorm and recharge for the rest of the day. There are also sleep pods offered in the Bruin Hub if you are looking to rest on campus.

Sometimes, the most meaningful in-between moments are about connection. Meet a friend for lunch in Westwood, visit a club tabling on campus or take a slow gratitude walk past Royce Hall—it reminds you how beautiful this place is.
At UCLA, even the small moments of downtime between classes are a big part of the overall experience.
