Gallery: Kiki Rice’s stellar WNBA debut with the Toronto Tempo

The Los Angles Sparks took on the Toronto Tempo, including Bruin alum Kiki Rice, on Sunday night in Crypto.com Arena. The Sparks went up against the Tempo in their second game of a two-game series which ended in an unfortunate 106-96 loss for the Sparks. LA fought hard, but after five lead changes in the first quarter, the momentum shifted and the Tempo ran with it, earning the team its first win over the Sparks in franchise history.

Sparks forward Dearica Hamby and Tempo forward Nyara Sabally both jump for the ball at tip off. The Sparks and Tempo competed against each other at Crypto.com Arena, ending in an 106-96 win for the Tempo.
Rice tosses up a layup against Los Angeles. The Toronto Tempo guard was drafted sixth overall to the Tempo in the franchise’s inaugural season in the WNBA.
Rice goes up against Los Angeles guard Kelsey Plum. The Tempo and Sparks played a two-game series in LA, ending in a 1-1 tie.

Sykes faces off with Plum. The guard accounted for 38 of the Tempo’s 106 points in their victory over the Sparks.
Los Angeles guard Kate Martin shoots a three pointer from the corner against the Tempo. Fan favorite Martin was picked up by the Sparks after being waved by the Golden State Valkyries.
Sykes dribbles over the three-point line. The guard was traded from the Washington Mystics to the Seattle Storm last season before being selected by the Toronto Tempo in this season’s expansion draft.
Sykes rushes past Hamby to the basket. Formerly of the Seattle Storm, Sykes was selected by the Toronto Tempo in the 2026 expansion draft.
Plum shoots the ball over Tempo forward Maria Conde. The guard led the Sparks in scoring against the Tempo, putting up 28 points.
Hamby tosses up a layup. The Los Angeles Sparks center recorded 21 points, nine rebounds and three steals against the Toronto Tempo.
